The thing nobody talks about

You sit down to create. Something freezes you.

Why bother? Who’s going to care?
I’m not good enough. Not yet.
What if I share this and it fails in public?
Maybe this is too personal.

So you wait. You tinker. You make something safe and hollow and the world goes without the thing only you could have made. It doesn’t have to keep going like this.

A different way of seeing it

Those voices aren’t your enemy. They’re frightened guardians that never learned to let you grow.

Name them · Face them · Befriend them

Meet the eight you’ll be working with.

In the room, we’ll identify which monsters are running your creative life and build a practical response you can use the very next day.

“I should start on Monday. Or next Monday. Or when the first one lands on a Monday.”

02
The Pot Dweller
The Pot Dweller

“Maybe this is too personal. I am not enough. I don’t deserve attention.”

03
The Bully
The Bully

“If we never share, we can’t be rejected.”

04
The Scorekeeper
The Scorekeeper

“Other people are doing better than me. This won’t sell. Who will buy this?”

05
The Needle Heart
The Needle Heart

“If no one sees the real you, no one can wound the real you.”

06
The Heavy Head
The Heavy Head

“I need to think this through a little more. I can fix this with more planning.”

07
The Razor Eye
The Razor Eye

“That’s not good enough. It needs to be perfect before anyone can see it.”

08
The Hibernator
The Hibernator

“I can’t move. I don’t know where to start. Maybe if I just wait a little longer.”

What the gathering actually is

An intimate evening, in three movements.

1

Name them

Walk through the eight patterns that block art, what they whisper, and where they come from. You’ll recognize yours immediately.

2

Face them

Visualize and give shape to your own monsters. Talk to them. Set limits. We’ll work with practical tools you keep for life.

3

Befriend them

Share in a small circle of like-minded creatives. Realizing you’re not alone is, quietly, the most healing part of the night.

Maki Hirasawa

“I felt my heart become considerably lighter. I realized I had been trying to eliminate my negative inner voices rather than understand them. That realization alone was invaluable.”

“We were a small group, and everyone was equally open to explore — some surprised at themselves for how deep we went so quickly. Cuau invites presence and non-judgment by embodying all of it himself. The beauty is the connection and recognition that comes out of it: everyone there relates to the block in some way. Naming the monsters and facing them together led, again and again, to inspiration.”

Cuau Velazquez
Your guide for the night

I was creatively frozen for over a decade.

I’m Cuau Velazquez, a filmmaker. I always loved writing and telling stories, but I was petrified to share a single idea with the world.

In 2023, heart surgery put things into perspective. It gave me the push to write, produce and shoot my first short film, Apparition. Making it forced me to confront my own creative monsters and find tools to move through them.

Since then I’ve run these workshops in Germany and Japan. Now I’m bringing it to Toronto in person for creatives ready to meet their monsters face to face.
