What this is
You bring what's been
stopping you. We give it a name.
Not a workshop. Not therapy. An evening where a small group of creatives sit together, share what's been getting in the way of their work, and discover they're not the only ones hearing these things.
Those voices have names. Once you name them, something shifts. Not because naming heals everything, but because you stop fighting a fog and start dealing with something specific. Something with a shape, a logic, and a way through.
A different way of seeing it
Those voices aren't signs of failure.
They're frightened guardians
that never learned to let you grow.
The Creative Monsters framework gives each one a name and a face. That alone tends to produce immediate relief — because suddenly it's not you anymore. It's a monster. And monsters can be worked with.
The evening
An informal circle in three movements.
Name them
We walk through the eight monsters together. You'll recognize yours before we're halfway through. That moment of recognition is, quietly, the whole thing.
Share them
A guided conversation where everyone gets to name what's been getting in the way. No performance required. Just honest sharing with people who genuinely get it.
Face them
A small ritual to close the evening and set you off with a different relationship with the thing that's been stopping you. Simple but surprisingly effective.

Hi, I'm Cuau
I'm a filmmaker and the founder of the Poetic Toolbox. After years of being creatively blocked, I traveled to Japan and made my first short film, Apparition, confronting every pattern that had kept me from creating for over a decade. That process became the foundation for the Creative Monsters framework.
Since then I've run these gatherings with artists in Berlin and Japan, watching people leave with something they couldn't quite name before they walked in. Now I'm bringing it to Toronto during TIFF week, for the people who are here making things, or trying to.
